Seedance

Seedance is built by ByteDance, the global technology company behind TikTok, Douyin, CapCut, and the Dreamina creative platform. The model originates from ByteDance's Seed research lab, which develops frontier models across language, vision, speech, and multimodal generation.

ByteDance commercializes Seedance through its cloud arms: Volcano Engine (Volcano Ark/ModelArk) in mainland China and BytePlus internationally, alongside consumer distribution via Dreamina and CapCut. This gives Seedance an unusually broad reach, from casual mobile creators to enterprise developers integrating video generation at scale.

Seedance generates 1080p video from text and image inputs with native multi-shot storytelling, maintaining consistency in subject, style, and atmosphere across cuts. It emphasizes smooth, stable, physically plausible motion, precise natural-language prompt following, controllable camera movement, and diverse visual styles from photorealism to illustration.

Newer releases in the series (1.5, 2.0, and 2.5) extend this with synchronized native audio, multimodal reference from images, video, and audio clips, dual-channel sound, and video editing and extension. The exact capabilities available depend on the version and whether it is accessed through Dreamina or the API.
