Module 4: Put it to work

Pick the right agent

Map the job to the agent: scheduled routines, consumer tasks with strong privacy, or always-on multi-app goals.

You now have everything to choose well. Match the job to the agent rather than chasing the biggest name.

  • Choose Grok Bot when the need is scheduled or event-triggered automation — "every morning do X," "when a deploy fails, do Y." It's the one built around routines and triggers. Just run it with the shared-computer discipline from Module 1: least privilege, scoped logins, and allow-or-draft endings for overnight tasks.
  • Choose Meta Muse when you want a consumer personal agent with the strongest built-in privacy (its Sentinel approval model, never seeing your passwords) and help with real-world shopping (it pays through Link by Stripe with purchase protections). Caveat: US-only for now.
  • Choose OpenAI Dots when you're already in ChatGPT and want always-on agents spanning thousands of apps, and the ~$100/mo Pro plan is fine. Caveat: not in the EEA/UK/Switzerland yet.

Two overriding filters, in order:

  1. Availability — if it doesn't work where you are, nothing else matters. This alone decides it for many people.
  2. Free vs paid — only Muse has a real free tier. If you want to try the category at zero cost, that's your starting point regardless of the others' strengths.

A good way to decide: write your actual first task in one sentence, then ask which agent's shape fits it — a clock (Grok Bot), a guarded consumer errand (Muse), or a continuous multi-app goal (Dots). The capabilities overlap, but each has a home turf, and matching to it gives you the smoothest start.

Try it

Write your real first task in one sentence. Run it through the two filters (availability, then free/paid), then match it to the agent whose shape fits. Name your pick and the one reason it beat the other two for this task.
