Toolglade’s take

Unity-MCP (IvanMurzak) is the larger of the two popular Unity MCP bridges, Apache-2.0 and actively maintained (last push September 2026). It gives an agent a real editor build-and-test loop and needs no GPU. Note it works at edit time, not inside a shipped build — and compare it with CoderGamester/mcp-unity before committing. About Unity-MCP (IvanMurzak)

Unity-MCP by IvanMurzak is an Apache-2.0 MCP server that exposes Unity Editor actions to an AI agent for a develop-and-test loop.

Unity-MCP connects an AI agent to the Unity Editor by exposing C# methods as MCP tools, plus a CLI and AI "skills." An agent can create and modify objects, run the project, and iterate based on results — a genuine write-run-check loop. It is one of the larger Unity MCP projects (Apache-2.0) and is actively maintained. A common exaggeration: it is an editor/development-time bridge, not something that lives inside your compiled game at runtime. There is also a well-known rival, CoderGamester/mcp-unity, worth comparing.
