FastMCP is effectively the default way to build MCP servers in Python, and for good reason: the decorator-based API is clean, boilerplate is minimal, and it tracks the spec closely. If you're writing a server, start here. Caveats: the fast release cadence (1.0 into the SDK, 2.0, then 3.0 in 2026) means APIs move, so pin versions; and the hosted FastMCP Cloud/Horizon offerings are separate paid products with their own pricing. Verify hosting costs and check the changelog before upgrading.
