Beyond being specific and giving context, three more simple moves noticeably improve your AI results: asking for the format you want, assigning a role, and giving examples.

1. Ask for the format you want. AI will match the shape you ask for — so ask. Want a bulleted list? A table? A step-by-step guide? A short paragraph? A specific word count? Just say so: "Give me this as a numbered list," "Put it in a table," "Explain it in two simple sentences," "Keep it under 100 words." Specifying the format saves you from getting a wall of text when you wanted bullets, or an essay when you wanted a summary. It's a tiny addition with a big payoff.

2. Assign a role or persona. Telling the AI who to be shapes its tone and approach: "You are a patient teacher explaining this to a beginner," "Act as a friendly copy editor," "Respond as an experienced travel guide." This reliably improves the tone, style, and framing of the answer. (One honest caveat: a role helps set the voice, but it doesn't magically make the AI more factually accurate — so still verify important facts.)

3. Give examples (one of the most powerful techniques). Showing the AI an example or two of what you want is one of the highest-leverage things you can do — often more effective than explaining. If you want output in a certain style or format, show it a sample: "Write three more product descriptions in this style: [paste an example]." A few good examples teach the AI your desired pattern far better than words alone. This is sometimes called "few-shot" prompting, and it works remarkably well.
