Superhuman

Superhuman launched publicly in 2019 as a high-end email client focused on speed and design, quickly building a cult following among executives, founders, and salespeople. In 2025, Grammarly announced it would acquire Superhuman to accelerate its transformation into an AI productivity platform, with the deal closing later that year.

Following the acquisition, Grammarly rebranded its parent company as Superhuman and launched the Superhuman Suite, which bundles Grammarly (writing assistance), Coda (docs and workspace), Mail (the former Superhuman email client), and Go (a proactive AI assistant). Email is now central to the company's agent-focused vision of AI that triages inboxes, schedules meetings, and drafts replies.

The core product is a fast, keyboard-driven email client that layers on top of Gmail or Outlook, offering Split Inbox, read statuses, follow-up reminders, snippets, undo send, and deep calendar and scheduling integration. Its design goal is helping users process email roughly twice as fast and maintain inbox zero.

Its AI capabilities have expanded significantly post-acquisition, including Auto Drafts that monitor the inbox and write complete replies in the user's voice, Ask AI for searching and summarizing threads, automatic email labeling, Smart Send, and AI-assisted scheduling. CRM integrations with HubSpot and Salesforce make it particularly useful for sales workflows.

Superhuman targets busy, high-value knowledge workers who live in their inbox: executives, founders, investors, salespeople, recruiters, and client-facing professionals who send and receive large volumes of email daily. Its premium pricing and productivity focus skew it toward individuals and teams who place a high monetary value on time saved, rather than casual or budget-conscious email users.

Superhuman raised over $100 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, IVP, and Tiger Global before being acquired by Grammarly in 2025 for an undisclosed amount.
