Databox pairs Genie, an AI analyst working over a governed semantic layer, with reusable Skills and Routines that run analysis on a schedule and deliver finished reports to email, Slack, or the app.

Databox has built its AI story on top of an existing analytics platform rather than as a standalone chatbot, and the ordering matters. Genie answers questions over a governed semantic layer, so metric definitions are consistent rather than reinvented per query. Skills package a recurring analysis into a reusable recipe, and Routines, launched in September 2026, run those Skills on a schedule and push the finished output to email, Slack, or the app with run history and follow-up chat. The effect is that reporting arrives before anyone asks for it, which is the difference between an analytics assistant you have to remember to use and one that shows up. An MCP server exposes the same data to ChatGPT and Claude, and API access is available from the Analyst tier. Read the feature gating carefully. Pre-built Skills are available from Analyst, but custom Skills and Routines require the Team tier or above, and Agents are listed as coming soon rather than shipped.
